We’re ecstatic to announce our membership with 1% for the Planet. Now 1% of our annual sales will go towards supporting the environment.
It’s really a no-brainer for ReGrained. We built this business from the ground up with the primary goal of preserving our planet’s limited resources. Now our efforts to tackle food waste at the tap will join an inspiring team of companies and nonprofits fighting for a more healthy, resilient planet.
From providing clean drinking water to building the alternative transportation networks of tomorrow, 1% allows ReGrained to focus on our mission while supporting the initiatives that we care most about. All in a smart, strategic way that wouldn’t be possible on our own.
We thought it was super important to bake philanthropy into our business model as early as possible. That’s one of the reasons why 1% for the Planet is so kick-ass. As we grow, so too will our ability to give back. 1% for the Planet will ensure that we continuously reach this potential–making responsibility a habit.
We also admire the organization’s ethos of using business to drive change, while recognizing the inherent challenge of balancing business with sustainability. It’s pretty cool that the founder of 1% for the Planet, Yvon Chouinard (who is also the founder of Patagonia), has been famously harsh on even the most sustainable businesses. He called out his own (very responsible) business, saying: “All the work we do at Patagonia to be a more responsible company is for naught unless we can be part of the solution to this problem.”
It’s good to have a person at the helm who calls it like it is. And like Yvon, we’re under no illusions. We make nutrition bars... But what if a bar could be the beginning of a movement? 1% for the Planet helps us grow that dream into a reality.
